Verbatim 16x DVD-R MCC03RG20
After testing the Titanium & the Philips MCC03RG20 16x DVD-R I decided to try the Verbatim discs that have the same MID code to see if there is any difference in performance. I persuaded my favorite on line retailer to send me some samples to review These discs are a frosted metallic pale gold with the writing stencil cut into it making it difficult to get a good scan of the disc. The dye and markings are similar in appearance to the Titanium & Philips

The results from this Benq drive are acceptable but disappointingly higher than any of the other drives Jitter averages about 12.5 for most of the scan with one large peak 27.6% at the end of the scan PIF practically nil | | | PI starts just over 30 decreasing to below 10 at the end Jitter is about 10% with no large fluctuations for all of the scan very good indeed PIF could not be better | | | | | Smooth speed reading up to 3 gig when the reading fluctuates showing irregularities in the burn | | | Perfect | The performance of this media is comparable with the Titanium & Philips MCC03RG20 which is good The results of the Benq drive is acceptable and the discs all play OK but I am disappointed in the graphs produced showing that the Benq does not give an exceptional burn the same as my other drives.
IMO this media is equally as good as the Titanium or Philips | Added: Friday, May 13, 2005 Reviewer: Flashhits: 18349
