After a pretty staggering 11 years of ups (Metal Gear Solid), downs (KISS Pinball) and more drama than an Eastenders omnibus, Sony has announced that it is bringing a halt to the production of its flagbearing PSone.
The company's first foray into the gaming market in late 1994 (1995 for Europe), the Sony PlayStation has proved an enormous success, so enormous in fact, that we consider this sentence an understatement. With the dawn of PS3 on the horizon however, Sony has finally decided to bring the hammer down.
But while that does means no more units will pop off the factory production line, it doesn't necessarily mean that hardware and software won't still be available at retail.
